Gebrüder Weiss receives Klima:aktiv award
New route planning software could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 410 tonnes annually in the future
The Vorarlberg logistics and transport company Gebrüder Weiss is making an active contribution to protecting our climate. New route planning software could reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 410 tonnes annually in the future.
As part of the ”klima:aktiv” campaign, Federal Minister of Environment Josef Pröll lauded GW on 2 May in Vienna for this exemplary goal and for using the latest technologies. Wolfram Senger-Weiss accepted the climatic protection award on behalf of GW. Gebrüder Weiss has been certified to the ISO 14001 standard on environmental management ever since 2003. Clear goals are thus set for reducing emissions, which the new software will help advance even further. Commensurate funding was applied for at the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water and Environment. The honour bestowed by Federal Minister Josef Pröll commends GW for its active participation in this climate protection campaign.The Gebrüder Weiss organisation considers mobility management and climate protection to be a conscious guideline, a key fundamental. The new software for Mobilkom route planning will enable transport routes to be streamlined and thus reduce CO2 emissions by 410 tonnes per year. GW will thereby be actively contributing to protecting our climate and helping to reduce the greenhouse effect.As a transport and logistics company, GW sends a clear environmental signal as have numerous other climate-conscious companies and organisations throughout the country, including all the communities and cities participating in the ”klima:aktiv” campaign for climatic protection. Last year, a total of 80 organisations took part in this campaign advanced under the auspices of the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water and Environment, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, the Austrian Institute For Economic Promotion Of The Federal Economic Chamber (WIFI) as well as numerous cities and municipalities, all 80 thereby making an active contribution to climatic protection. For the Vorarlberg logistics and transport company Gebrüder Weiss, the ”klima:aktiv” award is a recognition of the environmental management realised to date in the transport trade and at the same time, a commitment to continuing exemplary climate protection measures in the future.
