Since 1 December, Danish freight forwarder EHJ Combifragt has been on board to ensure optimum shipping conditions for all traffic to Scandinavia. Gebrüder Weiss customers are above all benefiting from the experience the new partner has amassed in Switzerland, from more consistent connections, and from its broad network across Northern Europe.
”Combifragt has been steadily building up its Swiss traffic for years,” says Oskar Kramer, Director of the Gebrüder Weiss office in Altenrhein. Teaming up with the Danish freight forwarder means even better shipping options for both GW locations in Altenrhein and Basel. As the frequency of departures will increase significantly, customers can now look forward to shorter pick-up, transit and delivery times.A well-oiled team
Like the other Gebrüder Weiss partners in Scandinavia – Universal Spedition in Norway, Road Link in Sweden, as well as all the locations of the Finnish Post Office – EHJ Combifragt is a division of the Finnish Post Office. Even today, jointly-observed standards and quality directives can be easier specified, realised faster and controlled more precisely within this network. In the future, the collaboration will be even more seamless, contends Cuno Mattioli, branch manager at GW Basel. Because the Finnish post office will soon be consolidating all its freight forwarding operations under the name ”Itella”. The end result being that ”our customers will then be able to cover the entire northern European region with just one GW partner.”
The former Gebrüder Weiss partner in Denmark, DFDS, is now handling its Swiss traffic through a recently acquired company.

The Gebrüder Weiss organisation, headquartered in Lauterach (Vorarlberg, Austria), employs a total of nearly 3,900 employees at 134 locations around the world. The logistics company recorded sales of 789 million Euro in fiscal year 2005.
