Head of GW-Tirol, Luis Putschner, is set to retire on 01 January 2007. Stepping in to fill his shoes will be 47-year-old Hannes Mayr. Mayr’s agenda is squarely focused on integrated logistics solutions and combined transport.
Hannes Mayr joined the Gebrüder Weiss family in 1983 and has since drawn greatly varied experience from many different departments and functions, including the running of Logistik Zone Tirol until the merger with Gebrüder Weiss. Most recently, Mayr was the top logistics man at GW-Tirol. His sees his new role as the culmination of his entire career. ”Managing the amazing GW-Tirol team into the future is a great responsibility.” One of his chief goals is to provide Tyrolean customers with integrated logistics solutions options. ”In light of the known restraints on traffic, I also want to expand combined transport,” notes the designated head of GW-Tirol.From apprentice to national director
Under the guidance of Luis Putschner, GW, with locations in Hall, Wörgl and Innsbruck, developed into the largest freight forwarder in Tyrol. ”Luis Putschner always understood the importance of training and promoting his employees. It was largely his encouragement that paid off in the success Gebrüder Weiss has had in this province,” praises Regional Director Roland Gander.
It was almost half a century ago that Luis Putschner first entered the freight forwarding world, starting as an apprentice with Gebrüder Weiss in Innsbruck. Putschner later went on to head the Import department before taking over the former branch offices in Innsbruck and Kufstein in 1994. The close of 2006 coincides with Putschner’s official retirement. Officially yes, but not entirely – Putschner will still be providing the sum of his expertise to Gebrüder Weiss for a further two years in a consultant capacity.
